Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described the Union Budget 2026-27 as historic, saying it reflects the aspirations of 140 crore Indians and strengthens India’s reform journey. He said the budget also charts a clear roadmap for achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047. The Prime Minister made these remarks in his televised post budget address after the Finance Minister presented the budget in the Lok Sabha.

The Prime Minister said the Union Budget 2026-27 stands out for its vision and direction. He called it a highway of opportunities for the nation. According to him, the budget captures the hopes of citizens and provides a strong base for long term national growth. Therefore, he said it plays a key role in shaping India’s economic future.

“Today’s budget is historic. It reflects the aspirations of 140 crore Indians. It strengthens the reform journey and charts a clear roadmap for Viksit Bharat,Modi said. He added that the budget marks an important step in India’s development path. Meanwhile, he said it also highlights the strength and confidence of the country.

The Prime Minister also spoke about the role of women in national progress. He said the budget reflects the empowered presence of the nation’s feminine strength. He noted that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has created a new record by presenting the budget for the ninth consecutive time. He said this achievement reflects trust and continuity in economic leadership.

Modi said the Union Budget 2026-27 presents an ambitious roadmap to give fresh momentum to the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. He said the budget aims to push reforms further and energise growth engines across sectors. “This budget is the foundation for our journey towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047. This year’s budget will give India’s reform express new energy and new momentum,” he said.

Later, the Prime Minister said India is not satisfied with being only the fastest growing economy. He said the budget strengthens the foundation of a brighter future. “This budget further strengthens India’s global role. The 1.4 billion citizens of India are not satisfied with being just the fastest-growing economy. We want to become the world’s third-largest economy as soon as possible. This is the resolve of millions of countrymen,” he said.

He also said the budget reflects trust based governance and a human centric economic framework. He said it focuses on reducing the fiscal deficit and controlling inflation, while also maintaining high capital spending and strong growth. He added that the support announced for MSMEs will help them grow from local to global.
