Hyderabad, July 26: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a complaint against Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy with the State Chief Electoral Officer, alleging that his remarks on the voter list violated the Model Code of Conduct.
The BJP claimed that the Chief Minister’s statement could influence voters and create fear regarding welfare benefits.
BJP Election Affairs Committee Chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy submitted the complaint to Telangana Chief Electoral Officer P. Sudarshan Reddy.
According to the BJP, Revanth Reddy allegedly warned that people whose names were not included in the electoral rolls would not receive government welfare schemes.
The party described the remarks as objectionable and alleged that they amounted to intimidating voters.
The BJP has urged the Election Commission of India to issue a notice to the Chief Minister and take appropriate action for the alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
There was no immediate response from the Telangana government or the Chief Minister’s Office on the BJP’s allegations.
