Telangana Tax Share Up 13.5% To Rs 33,180 Crore

The Union Budget 2026–27 has raised Telangana’s tax share by 13.5 percent to Rs 33,180 crore, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy said. He welcomed the Budget and described it as a forward looking “Reforms Express Budget” that focuses on stable economic growth, matches public hopes, and builds confidence in future generations. He also said the Budget marks a decisive step towards making India a developed nation by 2047, with Telangana set to gain from several allocations and reforms.

Kishan Reddy said the state’s share in tax devolution has gone up from Rs 29,280 crore in 2025–26 to Rs 33,180 crore in 2026–27. He added that the higher share will strengthen Telangana’s finances and help ongoing and future development works. Meanwhile, he stressed that fiscal support through the Budget will support growth across sectors.

He also highlighted a major infrastructure push through seven high speed rail corridors announced in the Budget. Of these, three corridors will start from Hyderabad and connect the city with Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai. According to Reddy, these links will change regional connectivity. They will also support Hyderabad’s growth in IT, biopharma, and real estate. Therefore, he said, the rail projects will have long term economic value for the state.

The minister further pointed to support for the textile sector through the TEX ECO programme. This programme aims to make Indian textiles globally competitive. Telangana’s Kakatiya Mega Textile Park at Warangal will benefit from this move. He said this will help industrial growth and create jobs in the region.

Women’s empowerment also finds space in the Budget. Reddy said one girls’ hostel will be built in every district. Telangana will get 33 hostels. He noted that women students, especially those studying STEM courses, often face housing problems. These hostels will help them continue higher education.

He added that Hyderabad, known as the pharma and vaccine capital of India, will benefit from the BioPharma SHAKTI programme. This plan will boost domestic production of biologics and biosimilars. As a result, Hyderabad will strengthen its position as a global hub for advanced medicines.

The Budget also brings tax relief by raising the personal income tax exemption limit to Rs 12.5 lakh and cutting taxes on consumer goods. A Rs 10,000 crore Growth Fund for MSMEs will benefit nearly 38 lakh enterprises in Telangana. Railway capital spending has risen by 10 percent to Rs 2.77 lakh crore, with 42 stations set for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat scheme. Metro and MRTS projects received Rs 28,740 crore, while Reddy urged faster decisions on Hyderabad Metro to secure central support.
