Biomolecular Analysis Workshop Held At OU

Hyderabad: The Department of Biochemistry, University College of Science, Osmania University successfully organized the “Two Day National workshop on Biomolecular analysis for Diagnostics” on the occasion of National Science Day. The workshop took place on 27th and 28th February, 2026, and focused on bridging molecular science with clinical insights.

The inaugural session began with a welcome note by Dr. Raju Padiya, Convener of the workshop. He highlighted the theme and technical sessions. He also welcomed the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sr. Prof. Kumar Molugaram, O.U, along with dignitaries and participants.

The workshop was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, Kumar Molugaram, and the Principal, University College of Science, Sr. Prof. M. Vijulatha. Senior faculty members Prof. Manjula Bhanoori (CBoS – Biochemistry), Prof. Sulekha Rani, Prof. Roja Rani, Dr. Sandhya from the Department of Genetics, OU, and Prof. B. Bheema, Head of the Department of Microbiology, also graced the event and complemented the participants.

Meanwhile, Prof. Karuna Rupula, Head of the Department and Co-convener, presented a brief profile of the department. She outlined its academic and research achievements, including funded projects, publications, and alumni contributions.

In his inaugural address, Sr. Prof. Kumar Molugaram lauded the department for organizing a workshop on CD and DLS technology and diagnostics. He emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in Biochemistry and described it as a way forward for future advancements. He motivated participants and students to understand and apply AI tools. He also highlighted the need for precision and accuracy in research methods.

The Principal, Sr. Prof. M. Vijulatha, encouraged Life Science students, research scholars, and young faculty to actively engage in learning advanced techniques and benefit from such workshops.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Swapna Naik, Director and Consultant at Sri Swapna Fertility Centre, Hyderabad, delivered an informative talk on Assisted Reproductive Technology. She discussed the importance of Biochemistry in understanding fertility issues.

Later, Prof. Karuna Rupula conducted a technical session on the working principle of Dynamic Light Scattering, followed by hands-on experience for participants. Dr. Shibshekhar Roy delivered a technical session on Circular Dichroism and demonstrated it at the Central Facilities for Research and Development, Osmania University.

The sessions concluded with active participation from attendees. The workshop ended with a comprehensive summary of key observations.
