Sonia Gandhi questions Centre over silence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and asked him to stop the war. He suggested that if there is anything, it should be resolved peacefully. Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi reacted strongly to India’s silence regarding Khamenei’s death. She criticised the Centre’s stand.

Speaking to the national media, Sonia Gandhi said, “Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in attacks by Israel and America.”

“Iran officially announced this on March 1. Killing the Supreme Leader at a time when talks between Iran and the US are underway is damaging international relations. The Indian Prime Minister is not paying attention to the genocide of the US and Israel. But he is condemning Iran’s attacks on the UAE. He is not talking about the events that led to these attacks. Not condemning the assassination of Khamenei is not a neutral stance. It is abdicating responsibilities. The Centre’s approach raises serious doubts about India’s credibility,” he said.

Therefore, the issue has sparked debate over India’s diplomatic position. While the Centre remains silent, opposition leaders continue to question the government’s response. The situation has added to political tension over foreign policy and India’s stand on the ongoing conflict.
