Education Commission: Keshav Rao Counters Allegations
- Keshav Rao defends Education Commission report
- Teachers Salaries row misunderstood, says advisor
Hyderabad, March 4 (Maxim News): Government Advisor K. Keshav Rao said opposition parties are making allegations on the Education Commission without proper understanding. He stated that the commission prepared its report after consulting many people. He also said the government will implement the Education Commission report.
Speaking to the media at the State Secretariat on Wednesday, Keshav Rao responded to criticism from opposition leaders.
Keshav Rao defended the commission and rejected claims that it lacked experienced educationists. He questioned the opposition’s remarks and asked why they were saying that there were no real educationists in the commission.
Education Commission Report and Teachers Salaries Debate
The Education Commission, headed by Akunuri Murali, submitted its recommendations to the government.
However, one recommendation on Teachers Salaries became controversial. The commission reportedly observed that salaries of teachers, lecturers and non teaching staff were high and suggested rationalising them in the coming days.
As a result, opposition parties and teachers unions strongly criticised the recommendation. They accused the government of targeting teachers. Therefore, the issue led to sharp reactions and political debate.
Keshav Rao Responds to Opposition Criticism
In response, Keshav Rao said people were misunderstanding the salary issue.
Rao clarified that teachers play a key role in shaping students and guiding them on the right path. He said society cannot measure the value of teachers’ services.
However, he added that the salary aspect was being wrongly interpreted.
The opposition had questioned whether the Education Commission included experts who had basic teaching experience at school, college or university level.
They asked if even one such educationist was part of the panel. Keshav Rao strongly rejected these allegations and defended the composition of the commission.
Meanwhile, the debate over the commission’s recommendations continues. The government has indicated that it intends to bring the Education Commission report into effect.
However, criticism over the Teachers Salaries issue remains a sensitive matter in the political and educational circles of the state. (Maxim News)
