During the Assembly session, BRS members raised multiple concerns. They demanded clarity on payment of retirement benefits, pending DAs, and medical bills. However, they expressed dissatisfaction with the responses given by the government.

Meanwhile, during question hour, BRS member T Harish Rao alleged a major scam in rice exports to the Philippines. He questioned the status of 7500 metric tonnes of rice lying at Kakinada Port for one year. He also asked why the contract was given to a private agency instead of NAFED, which had shown willingness to make advance payments.

Harish Rao further questioned why tenders were not floated and whether the contract was given on a nomination basis. He also raised concerns about the appointment of a person facing CBI and ED cases as a government advisor. He said, “We demand the constitution of a House Committee into these irregularities,”.

However, Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy rejected the allegations. He said the claims were false and baseless. He also clarified that the government advisor had no connection with the rice export contract. Still, the government did not respond to the query regarding the advisor’s appointment.

At the same time, BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy raised the issue of Rs. 1200 crore arrears pending for Yasangi crop farmers. He sought a clear reply, but no specific answer was given. The minister, however, said the government is committed to protecting farmers’ interests.

Later, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the government is releasing Rs. 700 crore every month to clear employees’ bills. He also assured that retirement benefits and pending DAs would be paid soon.

However, the BRS members remained dissatisfied. They insisted on clear announcements and demanded a House Committee on the rice export issue. As their demands were not fully addressed, BRS legislators staged a walkout from the Assembly.
