MMTS Services Development Urged By Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, March 26: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stressed the need to strengthen MMTS services in Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region. He said this is essential to meet the growing transport needs of passengers. He also reviewed the recent decline in MMTS ridership and sought details from officials.

During a review meeting held at the Legislative Council hall, the Chief Minister directed officials to increase train frequency during peak office hours. He also asked them to ensure punctual operations. He said reliable and timely services are key to attracting more commuters.

Meanwhile, officials informed him about the lack of direct RTC bus connectivity to several MMTS stations. Many of these stations are located away from main roads. In response, Revanth Reddy asked them to study the feasibility of running mini-buses. He said this would improve last-mile connectivity and make travel easier for passengers.

He also stressed the need to improve passenger amenities at all MMTS stations. He noted that commuters will prefer MMTS services only when proper facilities are available. Therefore, he instructed officials to ensure better infrastructure and comfort at stations.

Later, the Chief Minister reviewed revenue generation from MMTS services. He suggested improving self-generated revenue sources. He also ordered officials to conduct a detailed study. The report should focus on increasing passenger numbers while improving amenities and connectivity.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and senior officials attended the meeting. These included Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, MA&UD Special Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and R&B Secretary Vikas Raj. Other attendees were CM’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, Secretary Manik Raj, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, HUMTA MD Jeevan Babu, and South Central Railway DCM Charan Naik.
