Mexico/Internet/Hyderabad, Mar 27 (Maxim News): A massive oil slick has formed in the Gulf of Mexico, stretching 600 kilometers across the ocean. Mexican officials have announced this. The oil slick has had a major impact on marine life, including seven nature reserves. The threat was caused by the spread of two natural oil wells and the capsizing of an oil tanker at sea.
Five months ago, heavy rains and flooding in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz caused a natural oil pipeline to burst. The oil that leaked from the pipeline spread 600 kilometers along the Pontepec River and 200 kilometers of coastline in the southern state of Tabasco. Another natural oil well in the Bay of Campeche also burst and is still leaking oil.
For months, large amounts of pollution have been leaking from these two natural oil wells. On the other hand, three months ago, officials said that an oil tanker capsized in the Gulf of Mexico, causing an oil leak into the sea. Hundreds of sea turtles and various aquatic creatures, including fish, are losing their lives as a result. (Maxim News)
