Hyderabad, June 12: BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind has alleged that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy may have played a role in the developments that led to the rejection of the Rajya Sabha nomination of Meenakshi Natarajan.
Speaking to the media in Yadadri on Friday, Arvind questioned how details related to a case allegedly linked to Meenakshi Natarajan came to light during the nomination process.
The BJP MP asked whether the Election Commission was aware of the case and suggested that the circumstances surrounding the rejection of the nomination should be thoroughly examined.
Arvind also questioned whether there was any internal conspiracy within the Congress party behind the episode. He claimed that the matter warranted a detailed inquiry to establish the facts.
Responding to criticism from Telangana Minister Seethakka, who allegedly accused the BJP of obstructing a woman candidate’s entry into the Rajya Sabha, Arvind rejected the charge and countered with questions regarding the nomination process.
The BJP leader also referred to the role of senior leaders involved in filing the nomination papers and called for clarity on the sequence of events.
Without providing evidence, Arvind alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy could face political setbacks in the future. His remarks are likely to intensify the ongoing political exchange between the BJP and the ruling Congress in Telangana.
Neither the Congress party nor the Chief Minister’s Office had officially responded to Arvind’s allegations at the time of reporting.
