CM Revanth Reddy Briefs PM Modi On Fuel Supply Amid West Asia Crisis

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the state has taken strong measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG during the ongoing West Asia crisis.

The Chief Minister participated in a video conference chaired by the Prime Minister with Chief Ministers of all states on Friday. The meeting focused on fuel availability and LPG supply across the country.

Committees formed to monitor fuel supply

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy said the state government formed a high-level committee headed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao. This committee is reviewing fuel and gas supply on a daily basis. In addition, officials are monitoring the situation from the Integrated Command Control Centre in Hyderabad.

The CM also said the government appointed nodal officers in all 33 districts. These officers are monitoring petrol, diesel and LPG supply. They are also taking steps to prevent black marketing.

Priority LPG supply to essential services

The Chief Minister said the government is ensuring priority supply of commercial LPG cylinders to hospitals, schools, orphanages and old-age homes. At the same time, officials are closely monitoring fuel stocks at petrol bunks and tracking daily consumption.

He informed the Prime Minister that Telangana’s average daily consumption of petrol and diesel is about 36,189 kilolitres. Currently, the state has fuel reserves of around 1,88,210 kilolitres.

Action against misinformation on fuel shortage

Revanth Reddy also said the government is taking legal action against those spreading rumours about fuel shortages on social media. He said such misinformation can create unnecessary panic among the public.

EV promotion part of long term strategy

The Chief Minister said Telangana is actively promoting electric vehicles to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. As part of this effort, the state has announced 100 percent exemption on road tax and registration charges for EVs.

He also highlighted steps taken to promote EV manufacturing and battery ecosystems in the state. Plans to convert more than 1.2 lakh petrol and diesel autos in Hyderabad into EVs through retrofitting were also discussed. The procurement of electric buses for TGSRTC also came up during the meeting.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister V. Seshadri also attended the virtual meeting.
