Hyderabad, Mar 28 (Maxim News): Protesting the Congress Government’s failure to allocate funds for extending pensions and assistance to women and differently-abled persons as promised and for BC Atma Gaurava Bhavans and BC Sub plan, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged walkout from the Assembly on Saturday morning.
During the voting for demands in the Assembly for BC Welfare, Transport, panchayat raj and Home, the BRS legislators found fault with the State government for poor allocation to BC Welfare corporation.
BRS MLA Gangula Kamalakar asked the Government how many contracts were offered to BC community contractors since Congress came to power in the State. The Congress had also promised 42 percent reservations to the BC in local bodies but failed to fulfill the promise l, he pointed out.
Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender wanted the Congress to introduce the BC Bandhu scheme for Welfare of the community. He also demanded allocation of Rs.20 crore for Munnuru Kapu Bhavan.
BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the Congress government was committed to extending 42 percent reservations. He also said demand was being made in the Congress party for the BC Sub Plan, besides appointment of Chairman for different corporations.
In protest against the government’s failure to give specific replies, the BRS MLAs walked out of the Assembly.
Later, when voting for Women Welfare and Panchayat Raj, the BRS legislators complained that Kalyana Lakshmi cheques were yet to be cleared at many places.
Refuting Panchayat Raj Minister D Anasuya’s assertions on funds allocation to panchayats, Narsapur MLA Sunitha Laxma Reddy said the Rs.599 crore were released for salaries to employees.
When officials were asked over funds allocation for the ongoing 99 days programme, they said no specific allocations were made, she pointed out.
Panchayat employees’ salaries have been delayed since the last three months, she said.
Citing two examples, Sunitha Laxma Reddy said Kalyana Lakshmi beneficiaries were yet to be released even after two years.
In protest against the government’s replies and poor allocations to differently-abled persons, widows, Mahalakshmi scheme and one tola gold under Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, the BRS Members walked out of the House. (Maxim News)
