Hyderabad, April 4: A Nashik car accident claimed the lives of nine members of a family, including six children, after their vehicle fell into a well in Maharashtra’s Nashik district. Police confirmed the incident on Saturday.
The accident took place in the Shivaji Nagar area of Dindori town around 10 pm on Friday. According to officials, the victims were returning home after attending a function at a banquet hall in the area. However, their car fell into a well near the venue, leading to the tragedy.
Authorities said local police and emergency teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information. They began rescue operations immediately. Personnel used two cranes and swimmers to retrieve the vehicle and its occupants. The operation continued until around midnight.
Rescue efforts and victims identified
Meanwhile, officials identified the victims as members of the Dargude family from Indore village in Dindori taluka. The deceased included Sunil Dattu Dargude (32), his wife Reshma, and Asha Anil Dargude (32). The tragedy also claimed the lives of six children from the family.
Police stated that five of the children were girls aged between seven and 14 years, while one was an 11 year old boy. Therefore, the accident wiped out almost the entire family in a single incident, causing deep shock in the area.
Later, authorities shifted the bodies to the government hospital in Dindori for further procedures. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered. They have also begun an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident.
