Internet/Hyderabad, April 13 (Maxim News): Two Iranian oil tankers have reached India amid ongoing tensions in West Asia due to the war. With this, Iranian oil has reached India after almost seven years. Ship tracking data showed that these two ships were anchored at Sikka port in Gujarat. Two oil tankers belonging to the National Iranian Tanker Company left Kharge Island in mid-March. They were carrying about two million barrels of crude oil. However, it is not clear who bought these ships.
India has stopped buying Iranian oil since 2019 due to sanctions imposed by the superpower. Since then, there has been no shipment of Iranian oil to India. In this context, concerns about oil shortages have recently arisen due to the Middle East war. As a result, the US has relaxed the sanctions on Iranian oil. It has allowed the purchase of Iranian oil ships in maritime waters. As part of that, Iranian oil ships have now reached India. On the other hand, the superpower is preparing to blockade the Strait of Hormuz after peace talks between the US and Iran failed.
India is the world’s third largest oil importer. India recently announced that it is ready to buy oil from Iran and other countries due to the fuel shortage. (Maxim News)
