Hyderabad, August 23 (Maxim News): Police arrested the driver working for former Telangana minister Konda Surekha’s former Officer on Special Duty Sumanth in an alleged extortion case on Sunday.
Police took the driver into custody near Sumanth’s residence in Tellapur. The arrest followed a complaint involving alleged threats and an assault on a businessman.
According to the complaint, police registered an FIR against Sumanth over allegations of threatening the businessman. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 10 crore from the businessman.
The complaint also alleges that the businessman faced a physical assault during the incident. The attackers allegedly used iron rods while assaulting him.
Police are investigating the driver’s alleged role in the case. Officers took him into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police action has also intensified the search for Sumanth. Investigators are reportedly making efforts to trace and apprehend the former OSD.
Driver arrest follows alleged Rs 10 crore demand
The case centres on allegations of extortion, threats and physical assault. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand for Rs 10 crore.
Investigators are also expected to question the arrested driver about his alleged involvement. They may examine communications, movements and other evidence linked to the incident.
Police have not yet disclosed further details about the driver’s alleged role. The investigation will establish whether other individuals were involved in the alleged offence.
Meanwhile, the search for Sumanth continues. Police are working to trace his whereabouts and question him in connection with the allegations.
The case has drawn attention because of Sumanth’s previous association with Konda Surekha. However, the allegations remain subject to investigation, and the police inquiry will determine the individual roles of those named in the case.
