Hyderabad: Even hours after the incident, tension continues to surround Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, after a fresh bomb threat email on Friday, April 24, forced authorities to place the airport on high alert and launch massive security operations.
The threatening email claimed that explosive devices had been planted inside the airport premises, triggering an immediate emergency response from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airport security teams, and local police.
Passengers Panic as Security Tightened
Travelers at Hyderabad airport witnessed tense scenes as officials increased baggage screening, frisking, and vehicle checks. Several areas were temporarily restricted while bomb detection squads and sniffer dogs carried out detailed searches.
Despite the scare, flight operations continued under tight surveillance, though many passengers experienced delays and anxiety.
Full Search Operation at Airport
A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was immediately convened to evaluate the seriousness of the threat. Teams searched terminals, parking zones, cargo areas, and surrounding premises for several hours.
So far, no suspicious object has been found, and officials believe the threat may be another hoax. However, investigations are still underway.
Rising Wave of Hoax Threats Across India
This is part of a growing trend of fake bomb threats targeting airports, schools, and public institutions across India in recent months. While many threats turn out to be false alarms, they create panic, disrupt services, and stretch security resources.
Hunt On for Email Sender
Cyber teams and police officials are now working to trace the source of the threatening email. Strict legal action is expected against those responsible for spreading fear and misusing communication systems.
Officials Appeal for Calm
Airport authorities urged passengers not to panic and to fully cooperate with security staff. They assured that all safety protocols remain in place and passenger safety is the top priority.
