Hyderabad, April 26 (Maxim News): Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks on the delimitation issue.
He said if constituencies are increased on the basis of GDP calculations, only Hyderabad would gain more seats. He also claimed that in such a scenario, even Kodangal constituency may not remain for the Chief Minister to contest.
Bandi Sanjay made the remarks while addressing the closing ceremony of Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrations in Hyderabad.
Bandi Sanjay Targets Revanth on Delimitation
The Union Minister alleged that Revanth Reddy now wants to occupy the position of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
He said the Narendra Modi government wanted to increase seats by 50 percent across the country to bring a new generation into politics.
However, he alleged that opposition parties blocked the move.
He claimed that if the opposition had not resisted the proposal, Telangana would have received a 50 percent increase in both Lok Sabha and Assembly seats.
Bandi Sanjay further said Rahul Gandhi was falling into what he called Revanth Reddy’s political trap.
The remarks come amid growing political debate over delimitation and the future redistribution of parliamentary and assembly constituencies.
Delimitation refers to the redrawing of constituency boundaries based on population and other legal criteria.
Several southern states have expressed concerns that any population based exercise could reduce their relative representation compared with states that recorded faster population growth.
Political exchanges on the issue have intensified in recent months, with leaders from different parties offering contrasting views.
The latest comments from Bandi Sanjay are expected to trigger fresh reactions from the ruling Congress in Telangana. (Maxim News)
