Azharuddin | Hyderabad, April 27 (Maxim News): Professor M Kodandaram and former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin took oath as Members of the Telangana Legislative Council on Monday.
They were appointed under the Governor’s quota after the Governor approved the nominations and the state government issued the official order.
The oath ceremony took place in the presence of Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, several state ministers, and senior Congress leaders attended the event and congratulated the new members.
Azharuddin Says He Will Win Political Fans Too
After taking oath, Azharuddin made interesting remarks to the media. He said that at present he may have more cricket fans than political supporters.
However, he expressed confidence that he would earn political goodwill by working hard for the people. Azharuddin thanked Chief Minister Revanth

Reddy, the Congress high command, and cabinet colleagues for giving him the opportunity to serve as an MLC and minister.
He said he had served the nation as a cricketer and would now work with the same commitment as a public representative. The former cricket star added that he would focus on solving public issues and contributing to Telangana’s growth.
Professor Kodandaram also said he would play a constructive role in the Legislative Council and support policies aimed at public welfare and state development.
Kodandaram is known for his role during the Telangana statehood movement and has remained active in public life for many years. Azharuddin, a former MP and sports personality, recently entered active state politics and was inducted into the cabinet.
The entry of both Kodandaram and Azharuddin into the Council is seen as politically significant for the ruling Congress government. Their presence is expected to strengthen the government both politically and legislatively in the Upper House. (Maxim News)
