Hyderabad, April 30 (Maxim News): Journalist Accreditation Cards distribution has begun in Telangana with Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy launching the process on Tuesday. He distributed the new cards at the State Housing Corporation office in Himayatnagar.
The minister said the government will issue Journalist Accreditation Cards to all eligible applicants. Moreover, he clarified that the government holds no second thoughts on granting cards to qualified journalists.
He also stated that journalists who change their organizations after receiving accreditation will not lose their cards. However, they must inform the authorities about such changes.
Journalist Accreditation Cards to Reach All Eligible in 15 Days
The minister explained that the delay occurred due to efforts to implement the best accreditation system in the country. Therefore, the government took time to ensure transparency and proper verification.
He noted that previous government orders allowed around 45,000 to 46,000 eligible journalists. In contrast, earlier administrations limited the number to about 32,000 to 35,000.
Meanwhile, the extended validity of old accreditation cards ended on Tuesday. Hence, the government has started issuing new cards immediately.
So far, officials cleared around 2,500 state level accreditation cards. Additionally, the minister directed authorities to issue cards to eligible journalists at the district level without delay.
He assured that all eligible applicants will receive their Journalist Accreditation Cards within 15 days. Furthermore, he stressed the need to set a deadline for new applications.
According to the minister, finalizing the total number of accredited journalists will help the government design welfare schemes. As a result, officials can plan targeted benefits for the media community.
Overall, the move aims to strengthen support for journalists and streamline the accreditation process across Telangana. (Maxim News)
