Hyderabad, May 2: Families displaced due to lake restoration works in the city will be provided double-bedroom houses, according to A V Ranganath, Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency.
Govt Assures Rehabilitation
The announcement follows a decision by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to ensure that affected families are not left without support during restoration drives.
Officials said the move aims to balance environmental protection with social justice, ensuring that lake rejuvenation efforts do not adversely impact the poor.
Focus On Lake Restoration
The HYDRAA initiative has been actively working on:
- Removing encroachments around lakes
- Restoring water bodies to improve urban ecology
- Preventing flooding and environmental degradation
However, these actions have led to displacement of some families residing near lake areas.
Relief For Displaced Families
To address this, the government has decided to:
- Provide 2BHK houses to eligible displaced families
- Ensure proper rehabilitation alongside restoration work
- Minimise hardship caused during eviction or clearance drives
Officials reiterated that the objective is to carry out lake restoration in a humane and inclusive manner.
