Hyderabad, May 10: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares a strong emotional and historical connection with Telangana.
Addressing a massive public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, Rao said lakhs of people attended the rally to welcome the prime minister. He described the gathering as a clear indication of the BJP’s growing strength in Telangana.
According to Rao, the public meeting reflected the political mood in the state and signaled the possibility of a BJP government in Telangana in the future.
He said Prime Minister Modi has a special bond with Telangana because September 17 holds historic significance for both the state and the prime minister personally.
Rao noted that Hyderabad State merged with the Indian Union under the Nizam on September 17, which also happens to be Narendra Modi’s birthday. He described the coincidence as meaningful and emotionally important for BJP workers and supporters in Telangana.
The BJP leader also highlighted the development projects launched during Modi’s visit. He said the prime minister dedicated and laid the foundation for projects worth around Rs 9,700 crore for Telangana and the country.
During his speech, Ramchander Rao recalled the period when Naxal violence affected several parts of the country. He alleged that BJP and ABVP workers were targeted and killed by Naxalite groups in earlier decades.
He claimed that India was now moving toward becoming a “Naxalite free nation” and credited Prime Minister Modi for the change.
Rao further stated that the BJP was fighting against what he called anti national forces and parties attempting to divide the country in the name of North and South India.
The Telangana BJP chief also launched a sharp attack on regional parties and accused family based political systems of looting the state for years.
Without naming any specific party, he alleged that dynastic politics weakened governance and slowed development in Telangana.
The BJP public meeting at Parade Grounds witnessed the participation of senior party leaders, elected representatives, and supporters from different districts of Telangana. Tight security arrangements remained in place throughout the event due to the prime minister’s presence.
Prime Minister Modi later addressed the gathering and spoke about the BJP’s expansion plans in Telangana while highlighting the party’s recent electoral successes in other states.
