Hanumantha Rao Slams PM Modi Over ‘MMC’ Remark, Plans Police Complaint

Hyderabad, May 11: Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao on Monday said he would file a police complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his “MMC” remarks made during a public meeting in Hyderabad.

Hanumantha Rao said the Prime Minister insulted the Congress party by referring to it as “MMC,” which Modi described as “Muslim League Maoist Congress” during the BJP rally at Parade Grounds on Sunday.

The senior Congress leader said representations would also be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police. He alleged that the remarks hurt the sentiments of Congress workers and supporters across the country.

VH said former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism and extremism. Therefore, he said linking Congress with Maoists was unacceptable and politically motivated.

Modi targets Congress during Hyderabad rally

Addressing the BJP public meeting in Secunderabad, Modi accused the Congress of practicing divisive politics. He alleged that the party was trying to protect Maoist elements even as their influence was declining across the country.

The Prime Minister further claimed that Congress had shifted further left than Left parties themselves. Using the “MMC” phrase, he attempted to attack the party over its political stand and alliances.

Modi also criticized Congress governments in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. He alleged that both governments failed to implement election promises. Moreover, he claimed Telangana was moving in the same direction under Congress rule.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in Telangana with a strong majority. He said people were becoming dissatisfied with both the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi governments. He also targeted dynastic politics in regional parties.

Several senior BJP leaders attended the rally, including G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar and K. Laxman.

Meanwhile, Hanumantha Rao also appealed to Other Backward Classes communities to boycott the census process unless OBCs were included separately.
