Hyderabad, May 14: Two held for offensive video targeting Suvendu Adhikari after police arrested social media creators in West Bengal.
The arrests were made in Dinhata of Cooch Behar district on Wednesday. Police acted after complaints about a viral video with alleged derogatory content.
Officials said the video targeted Suvendu Adhikari. A senior officer confirmed that the content contained offensive language.
The Dinhata police launched an inquiry following multiple complaints. Subsequently, they traced the accused and arrested them from the local area.
Preliminary findings show that the duo are active content creators online. They had uploaded the video on their platform, which later went viral.
Police said the accused were first detained and then formally arrested. Further investigation is currently underway.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Police issued a warning on such content. It said no one can upload abusive or harmful material against any individual.
The statement added that strict legal action will be taken against violators. Authorities said content that hurts social or religious sentiments will not be tolerated.
