According to local residents, the explosion was so powerful that the sound was heard nearly one kilometre away from the accident site.
The impact completely destroyed the factory building and also damaged nearby houses. Several windows and walls of surrounding homes developed cracks following the explosion.
Initial reports indicated that multiple workers died on the spot.
Rescue teams shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
Officials said the condition of some injured persons remains critical.
Soon after receiving information, police, fire services personnel and teams from the National Disaster Response Force rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.
Authorities suspect that several people may still be trapped under the debris after the factory structure collapsed completely.
Rescue workers are using JCB machines and other equipment to clear the rubble and search for survivors.
Probe Underway
District officials and senior police officers reached the accident site to supervise rescue efforts.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of deaths and injuries.
Police are also investigating the cause of the explosion and whether the factory followed mandatory safety norms for manufacturing and storing firecrackers.
Officials said a detailed inquiry will be conducted after rescue operations conclude.
