Hyderabad, May 14: Cyberabad Police search for Bandi Bhageerath in POCSO case after he failed to appear despite notices, prompting teams to be sent to multiple locations.
Police teams were dispatched to Delhi and Karimnagar to trace Bandi Bhageerath. He is the son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Officials said Bhageerath did not appear before investigators on Wednesday. He had earlier sought two days’ time through a letter to the Station House Officer of Pet Basheerabad Police Station.

Police issued a second notice through his uncle in Karimnagar. This was based on the last known mobile location. Teams are continuing efforts to locate him.
Meanwhile, Bhageerath approached the Telangana High Court seeking interim bail. The matter is scheduled for hearing before a vacation bench.
His lawyer is expected to argue that the complainant is not a minor. The defence claims to have documents supporting this position.
However, police registered the case under the POCSO Act on May 8. The complaint alleges sexual assault on a 17 year old girl at a farmhouse in Moinabad.
Investigators initially invoked relevant sections of the law. Later, stricter provisions were added to the FIR, including aggravated offences.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed a detailed probe. Director General of Police C V Anand initiated the investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj was appointed to supervise the case. She recorded the victim’s statement to gather details.
Posters claiming Bhageerath is absconding appeared in Karimnagar and parts of Hyderabad. The source of these posters is not yet known.
Police said the search operation is ongoing. Further action will follow based on the investigation.
