Hyderabad, May 14: Kidnapping accused escapes from Tandur police station in Vikarabad district after being arrested in a minor girl abduction case.
The accused, identified as Mohd Azeem, is a barber from Delhi. He had been working at a salon in Tandur for the past six months.
Police said he befriended a 16 year old girl and allegedly kidnapped her on Saturday. He later travelled to Hyderabad with the victim.
Acting on a complaint from the girl’s parents, police traced Azeem in Hyderabad. They rescued the girl and arrested him.
Subsequently, he was shifted to the Tandur police station. Officials said he was kept in custody to be produced before a court.
However, Azeem managed to escape when he got an opportunity. The incident came to light on Thursday.
Police later confirmed that the accused is absconding. Special teams have been formed to trace and re arrest him.
Officials said efforts are ongoing to locate the accused. Further investigation is in progress.
