Hyderabad: The mother of the minor girl in the POCSO case involving Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Friday issued a public statement seeking a fair and impartial investigation into the case registered at the Pet Basheerabad police station in Hyderabad.
In her statement, the mother alleged emotional abuse, coercion and intimidation linked to the accused and appealed to the authorities to ensure justice while protecting the identity of the minor victim as mandated under the POCSO Act.
The family alleged that the minor girl was subjected to emotional manipulation and inappropriate physical behaviour during 2025. They urged investigating agencies to preserve electronic evidence, CCTV footage and police records for detailed forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Family Alleges Intimidation After Filing Complaint
According to the statement, the family began facing pressure and counter allegations after approaching the police in May 2026. The mother claimed that a separate extortion case was later registered against the family in Karimnagar following the complaint.
The family further alleged that certain influential individuals attempted to mediate and intimidate them after they initiated legal action in the matter.
The statement appealed to the judiciary, child rights institutions and investigating authorities to ensure an independent and transparent probe under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The mother also requested the media and public not to disclose any details that could reveal the identity of the minor victim, stressing the need to safeguard the child’s privacy and dignity throughout the legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the case continues to remain under investigation, with police officials examining statements, electronic evidence and other material linked to the allegations.
The matter has drawn significant public and political attention in Telangana following the registration of the POCSO case against Bandi Bhageerath.
