Tension In Mehdipatnam After Stone Pelting Over Suspected Cattle Transport

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in Mehdipatnam on Saturday night after stone pelting broke out between two groups over suspicion that a lorry was transporting cattle.

According to police and local sources, a lorry carrying plywood was stopped by a group of Gaurakshaks who suspected that cattle were being transported in the vehicle. An argument reportedly broke out between the occupants of the lorry and the group that intercepted it.

The situation quickly turned tense and led to stone pelting. During the incident, the windows of the lorry were damaged. Panic gripped the busy Mehdipatnam area as commuters and local residents gathered at the spot.

Police rushed to the area immediately after receiving information and brought the situation under control before it could escalate further. Additional police personnel were deployed in the locality to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.

Police Launch Probe Into Mehdipatnam Clash

AIMIM Nampally MLA Majid Hussain visited the spot soon after the incident and spoke to police officials and local residents. The Deputy Commissioner of Police also reached the area and reviewed the situation.

Police officials said preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was transporting plywood. Authorities are verifying the facts surrounding the suspicion raised over the lorry’s cargo.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage and collecting details to identify those involved in the stone pelting and damage to the vehicle. Police are also trying to determine how the confrontation escalated into violence.

The incident caused temporary tension in the area, which is one of Hyderabad’s busiest commercial and residential localities. However, officials said the situation is now under control and normalcy has been restored.
