Bhojshala Opens For Daily Puja After Court Order

Hyderabad, May 17: Hundreds of devotees gathered at the historic Bhojshala complex in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar on Sunday after authorities allowed daily Hindu worship and religious rituals at the disputed site.
The development came a day after the Archaeological Survey of India issued fresh orders permitting unrestricted puja at the Bhojshala Kamal Maula Mosque complex following directions from the Madhya Pradesh HighCourt.
The court recognised the structure as an 11th century Sanskrit learning centre and a temple dedicated to GoddessVagdeviSaraswati. It also cancelled the 2003 arrangement that allowed Hindu worship only on Tuesdays while reserving Fridays for Muslim prayers.
Religious rituals began at 6 am on Sunday with Vedic priests performing special pujas, homams and chanting of sacred mantras inside the complex.

The Bhojshala complex, originally built during the rule of Parmar king Bhoj, witnessed a massive turnout throughout the morning. Organisers said the event marked a major cultural and spiritual moment after a long legal battle over worship rights at the site.

Members of the Bhoj Utsav Samiti described the development as a restoration of historical and cultural heritage linked to the Sanatan tradition.

The Archaeological Survey of India will continue supervising the monument to ensure preservation of the protected structure.

The High Court also advised the Madhya Pradesh government to explore alternative land arrangements for the Muslim community in view of the revised worship guidelines.

The Bhojshala issue has remained a sensitive matter for decades, with both Hindu and Muslim groups staking claims over the historic structure.
