Bhagirath was arrested by the SIT on Saturday evening in connection with the case. Earlier, he was questioned for nearly two hours at the Pet Basheerabad Police Station.
Police later shifted him for medical examination and produced him before the Medchal district magistrate. After examining the case details, the court ordered 14 days judicial remand.
SIT Questions Bandi Bhagirath In POCSO Case
The case was registered under sections related to sexual harassment and provisions of the POCSO Act following allegations made by the minor victim’s family.
The victim had earlier appeared before the Medchal court and recorded her statement before the magistrate. Police also recorded the statements of the victim and her mother as part of the ongoing investigation.
Sources said the SIT is examining electronic evidence, including WhatsApp chats and other digital communication linked to the case.
Meanwhile, officials are expected to shift Bhagirath to Cherlapally Central Jail later in the night.
