Hyderabad DCC Reviews SIR Preparations At Gandhi Bhavan

Hyderabad, May 19: The Hyderabad District Congress Committee reviewed preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Booth Level Agents training during a meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Mallu Ravi, who is the in-charge of Hyderabad district. Hyderabad DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah said district body members and division in-charges attended the review meeting.

According to party leaders, 101 district body members and 44 division presidents participated in the discussions on BLA training and booth-level coordination.

Division presidents were instructed to coordinate closely with Booth Level Agents and monitor the SIR process to ensure eligible voters are not excluded from electoral rolls.

The Election Commission launched the SIR exercise to create an error free voter database by adding eligible voters and removing duplicate, deceased and ineligible entries.

As per the schedule for Hyderabad district, the door to door survey will begin on June 25 and continue till July 24. Booth Level Officers will distribute special enumeration forms, collect completed applications and issue receipts to voters.

The draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31. Claims and objections can be submitted from July 31 to August 30. Verification and hearings will continue till September 28, while the final electoral rolls will be released on October 1.

Voters can also submit forms online through the Election Commission portal using their mobile number or EPIC number. Assistance will also be available through BLOs and the toll free helpline 1950.

The meeting also discussed concerns earlier raised by B Mahesh Kumar Goud regarding the SIR process. He had urged election authorities to conduct the revision carefully and in phases to avoid wrongful deletion of voter names.

The Congress party also demanded adequate time for objections, written notices before deletion of names and proper verification procedures during the exercise.

Syed Khalid Saifullah said the Hyderabad DCC would closely monitor the SIR process and work through its division presidents and BLAs to safeguard the voting rights of eligible citizens.
