Hyderabad, May 19: Syed Khalid Saifullah on Tuesday urged Haj pilgrims from Hyderabad to pray for peace, unity and communal harmony in India during their pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Speaking at the Haj House in Hyderabad before the departure of pilgrims, the Hyderabad DCC president congratulated the Hujjaj-e-Kiraam and described them as among the fortunate people chosen to perform Haj.
He said millions of Muslims across the world aspire to undertake the pilgrimage, but only a limited number receive the opportunity each year. He added that Haj pilgrims travel as special guests of Allah.
Haj pilgrims asked to pray for unity and harmony
Khalid Saifullah referred to Islamic teachings and said prayers offered at Masjid al-Haram hold immense spiritual importance. He also cited a Hadith stating that a person who performs Haj sincerely and avoids wrongdoing returns spiritually purified.
He appealed to pilgrims to remember India in their prayers, especially while seeing the Kaaba for the first time, reciting Labbaik and offering prayers at Arafat.

The Congress leader said pilgrims should pray for love and harmony to prevail in the country and for future generations to grow with values of unity and peace.
He also alleged that certain groups were attempting to create divisions among communities for political reasons and appealed to pilgrims to pray for the defeat of hatred and the strengthening of social harmony.
Khalid Saifullah further requested the pilgrims to remember Telangana and its people in their prayers during the Haj pilgrimage.
