Hyderabad, Sept. 3: The BJP on Thursday defended the appointment of retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as the first CEO of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Congress leaders of showing an “anti Army” mindset by questioning the appointment.
The BJP welcomed Mishra’s appointment, noting that he commanded forces during Operation Sindoor. The party said his selection reflects the government’s respect for military veterans.
Congress leaders had questioned the need for a former Air Force officer to manage the temple’s affairs. Some also linked the appointment to the controversy over alleged theft and donations.
BJP Defends Jeetendra Mishra Appointment
Bhandari said the criticism reflected Congress’ alleged hostility towards the Armed Forces. He also accused the party of repeatedly questioning the credibility of military officers.
He referred to earlier remarks by some Congress leaders against former Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat. Bhandari said the party’s attitude towards military veterans had not changed.
He said the appointment of Jeetendra Mishra was a matter of pride for citizens. Mishra had commanded forces during Operation Sindoor before retiring from the Air Force.
Bhandari also accused the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of corruption and extortion.
He alleged that intermediaries were being used to settle cases and demanded accountability from the state government.
Bhandari further alleged that Mann’s wife was accused of using middlemen in a rape case involving an alleged payment of Rs 5 crore. He presented audio recordings, claiming they supported his allegations.
The allegations were made during a BJP press conference and remain claims by the party.
