Hyderabad, Sept. 3: Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav has warned that the party will gherao Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s residence if the Telangana government does not withdraw GO 97 by September 7.
Talasani extended support to protesting polytechnic students while participating in their dharna at Indira Park on Thursday.
Talasani Backs Polytechnic Students Over GO 97
Addressing the gathering, Talasani said students had been protesting for 20 days against GO 97, which they believe threatens the future of more than one lakh polytechnic students.
He alleged that the government was ignoring their concerns and accused it of attempting to shift polytechnic colleges to skill universities with the intention of promoting privatisation.
Talasani claimed the proposed government private partnership model would receive support only during the Congress government’s tenure. He also alleged that there were attempts to mortgage polytechnic properties to private entities.
He criticised the government’s handling of the issue and said students had been forced onto the streets because of what he described as ill considered decisions.
Referring to past student movements, Talasani urged the protesters to continue their agitation peacefully and assured them of the BRS party’s support.
