Hyderabad, May 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a packet of “Melody” toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during a recent interaction in Rome, reviving the widely popular “#Melodi” social media trend.
The light-hearted moment between the two leaders quickly went viral online after Meloni shared the interaction on Instagram.
In the video shared on social media, Meloni said, “Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift — a very, very good toffee — Melody,” while both leaders were seen laughing during the exchange.
She later thanked Modi in the caption accompanying the post.
The “Melodi” trend, created by combining the names Modi and Meloni, has become popular on social media over the past two years due to the friendly public interactions between the two leaders during global summits and international meetings.
‘Melodi’ Trend Goes Viral Again
The latest interaction took place during Modi’s visit to Rome, where the two leaders also attended a special dinner hosted near the iconic Colosseum.
Photos and videos from the event showed Modi and Meloni sharing a relaxed conversation, taking selfies and enjoying sunset views over the historic city.
The “Melodi” trend first gained global attention during the COP28 summit in Dubai when Meloni posted a selfie with Modi on social media and captioned it, “Good friends at COP28, #Melodi.”
Since then, their interactions at international forums, including the G20 Summit in New Delhi, have regularly attracted social media attention and generated viral online discussions.
The trend is often viewed as reflecting the growing diplomatic warmth and cooperation between India and Italy.
