Hyderabad, May 29 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has launched a major Hyderabad affordable housing project aimed at helping lower and middle income families achieve home ownership in the rapidly growing Hyderabad metropolitan region.
The Housing Department issued official orders for the construction of affordable flats under the ‘Core Urban Region Economy’ (CURE) initiative. The project focuses on building Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) housing units at affordable prices for eligible beneficiaries.
Officials stated that the Telangana government has granted approval to the Telangana Housing Board to take up the large scale housing programme. The state plans to construct a total of one lakh flats in a phased implementation model for lower and middle class families.
Hyderabad Affordable Housing Project Begins with 12,000 Flats
As part of the first phase, the government approved a pilot project involving the construction of 12,000 flats. Officials said the Telangana Housing Board will begin implementation after completing land identification, planning, and infrastructure arrangements.
The CURE housing initiative aims to improve affordable urban housing infrastructure and address growing housing affordability concerns in Hyderabad. Officials stated that rapid urbanisation and rising real estate prices have made home ownership difficult for many salaried employees, lower income households, and middle class families.
The Hyderabad affordable housing project is expected to help thousands of first time home buyers secure flats at subsidised rates within the Hyderabad metropolitan region.
Rs 5 Lakh Subsidy for LIG Flats
The Telangana government also announced major financial support for beneficiaries under the LIG category. Officials said beneficiaries purchasing LIG flats will receive land allocation benefits through Undivided Share of Land (UDS) support.
In addition, the government will provide a subsidy of Rs 5 lakh for LIG flats to reduce the financial burden on economically weaker families and improve access to affordable housing.
Officials stated that the subsidy support and land benefits are aimed at making flat ownership accessible to common citizens struggling with increasing urban housing costs.
The project is also expected to strengthen planned urban development and improve residential infrastructure across Hyderabad.
The Telangana government has been focusing on affordable housing, welfare, and urban infrastructure as part of its broader state urban development strategy. Officials believe the one lakh flats initiative will emerge as one of the biggest affordable housing programmes for lower and middle income groups in Telangana.(Maxim News)
