Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently reviewed the proposal during a high level meeting with senior officials. The initiative aims to integrate welfare schemes, citizen records and government databases into one centralized platform.

Officials said the proposed smart welfare card will help citizens access multiple government services through a single system. The government also plans to conduct a statewide survey to collect detailed family and individual data for the platform.

Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and senior bureaucrats attended the review meeting.

AI Powered Smart Welfare Card System

The government plans to use Artificial Intelligence to continuously update beneficiary information and improve monitoring. Officials believe the AI system will help detect duplicate beneficiaries and reduce misuse of welfare schemes.

The platform is also expected to reduce manual verification and improve transparency in welfare distribution. Authorities said the Information Technology Department will oversee the issuance and management of the unified smart welfare card.

Unlike existing department specific cards, the new system will combine records related to healthcare, education, employment and welfare schemes under one digital platform.

The government is also considering assigning a unique state identification number to every beneficiary. Officials said this could improve coordination among departments and speed up service delivery.

The system may include data related to contract and outsourcing employees working in government departments.

Officials are also planning automated updates across databases. For example, once a death certificate is issued, linked welfare records may update automatically to avoid delays and duplication.

The proposed platform will also maintain health related records and support real time access to verified information.

In addition, the government plans to monitor overseas migration through the database. Information related to passports, visas, skill development and Gulf employment opportunities may also be linked to the system.

Officials have been directed to study welfare and migration management models adopted by states including Kerala before finalizing the implementation roadmap.

The Telangana government said the unified smart welfare card is aimed at improving data driven governance and ensuring faster delivery of benefits to eligible citizens.
