Hyderabad High Court lifts Ban on HCA results announcement
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court as today cleared the declaration of results of Hyderabad Cricket Association. The result declaration was with held following the order of the high court vacation bench earlier
As many as 207 clubs out of 217 had voted in the Ranga Reddy District court ordered elections to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on January 17 this year.
As per the order by the Vacation Bench of the High Court, the results were withheld. The Ranga Reddy District court appointed K Rajeev Reddy as the Advocate Commissioner. The elections were held amid tight security at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal.
G Vivekanand, former MP and Advisor to the Telangana State government, and Vidyut Jaisimha, son of former Test cricketer the late ML Jaisimha, had filed their nominations for the president’s post while former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin’s nomination was rejected by the Returning Officer. Azharuddin had filed a plea in the High Court against the rejection of his nomination.
According to the Justice (retd) RM Lodha Committee recommendations, elections were to be held for president, one vice president, one secretary, one joint secretary, one treasurer and one Executive Committee member.
Shesh Narayan was the lone candidate for the secretary’s post as other nominations were rejected by the Returning Officer leading to the protests by the Arshad Ayub group.
The Vivekanand-Shesh Narayan group fielded Dr Anil Kumar for vice president’s post, Ajmal for joint secretary’s post while Mahendra for fighting for the treasurer’s post. Hanumantha Reddy fought the lone committee’s post.
Shesh Narayan said their group had followed the Lodha Committee recommendations to the full.
The counting of the votes may now be held.
