Hyderabad: Telangana is likely to get relief from the intense summer heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has forecast rain, thunderstorms and a gradual fall in temperatures across the State over the next few days.
The IMD has issued a heatwave warning for isolated areas on May 31. However, weather conditions are expected to improve from June 1 with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds likely to bring down temperatures.
According to the IMD, maximum temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged on Saturday. Thereafter, temperatures are likely to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the following four days.
Thunderstorm Alert Across Telangana
The weather department has forecast severe thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph at isolated places across Telangana from June 1.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana,” the IMD said.
Heatwave conditions are expected to persist on Saturday in isolated pockets of Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal and Hanamkonda districts.
For the Greater Hyderabad region and surrounding districts, including Medchal Malkajgiri, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Bhongir, the IMD has issued a thunderstorm warning beginning June 2.
Several districts, including Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal, are likely to receive thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds from Sunday.
The expected rainfall is likely to provide much needed relief to people across Telangana who have been facing scorching temperatures and heatwave conditions for the past several weeks.
