Bengaluru, June 3: Senior Congress leader D. K. Shivakumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday during a ceremony held at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru.
Thawar Chand Gehlot administered the oath of office to Shivakumar at 4.05 pm. Along with him, 13 legislators took oath as ministers in the new cabinet.
Senior Congress leader G. Parameshwara was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister. He previously served as Home Minister in the government led by Siddaramaiah.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by several senior Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and K. C. Venugopal.
Among those present were Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, party leaders, spiritual figures, civil society representatives, farmers, students, and Kannada activists.
The Governor also administered the oath of office to members of the new cabinet, including K. J. George, Ramalinga Reddy, Krishna Byre Gowda, M. B. Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Priyank Kharge, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, and Lakshmi Hebbalkar, among others.
The ceremony marked the beginning of a new administration in Karnataka under Shivakumar’s leadership, with the Congress party expressing confidence in strengthening governance and development initiatives across the state.
