Hyderabad, June 5: A 21-year-old woman was found dead in Gachibowli on Thursday night, with her family alleging that she had been subjected to prolonged dowry harassment after her marriage.
The deceased was identified as Anusha, who had been married for nearly a year. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to family members, Anusha faced repeated physical and mental harassment from her husband. They alleged that he was addicted to alcohol and frequently demanded additional dowry.
The family further claimed that five tolas of gold brought by Anusha from her parental home had been pawned by her husband. Despite several counselling sessions and interventions by elders, his behaviour allegedly did not improve.
Following the incident, Anusha’s mother, Chennamma, filed a complaint with the police alleging dowry related harassment.
Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Officials are examining the allegations and collecting evidence to determine the exact circumstances that led to the woman’s death. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
