Hyderabad, June 5 (Maxim News): TRS founder and MLC K. Kavitha visited the victims affected by the Ameerpet fire accident and interacted with traders to understand the extent of damage caused in the incident.
During her visit, Kavitha reviewed the situation on the ground and expressed concern over the losses suffered by business owners. She later addressed the media and demanded that the government provide adequate compensation to all affected victims. She stressed that compensation should be assessed properly and disbursed without delay.
Kavitha raised serious questions over the delayed response of emergency services, asking how fire mishaps can be controlled if the fire department reaches the spot after nearly one and a half hours. She said such delays are unacceptable in a densely populated commercial area like Ameerpet in Hyderabad.
She further noted that fire accidents can occur at any time, especially in buildings where workers are present during night hours, making timely response crucial to prevent large-scale damage and loss of life. She urged the government to take preventive measures by conducting regular inspections of vulnerable buildings in advance.
Kavitha also suggested that since the Chief Minister is holding the Home portfolio, a special review meeting should be conducted on the functioning of the fire department. She emphasized the need for clear coordination protocols so that there is no confusion about which fire station should respond to incidents in different parts of Hyderabad.
She reiterated that emergency response time must be reduced significantly and instructed authorities to ensure that fire services reach accident sites within minutes rather than taking over an hour, especially in central commercial zones like Ameerpet. Officials are yet to issue a detailed response on the allegations regarding delayed fire response.(Maxim News)
