United Nation/Internet/Hyderabad, June 9 (Maxim News): India has once again strongly criticized Pakistan at the United Nations (UNO). It strongly condemned the airstrikes carried out by the Pakistani army on Afghanistan. India expressed concern that this action was a clear attack on the sovereignty of Afghanistan and that it was a major threat to that country and the entire regional peace. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, India’s Permanent Representative and Ambassador Harish Parvathaneni expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives in Pakistani attacks.
He cited reports from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). He said that 372 civilians were killed and 397 others were injured in the first three months of this year. He said that the majority of these deaths were in targeted attacks during the holy month of Ramadan. India strongly criticized Pakistan for questioning the credibility of UN reports in the same meeting. He said that ‘multilateralism and support for the UN’ are not a menu that anyone can choose according to their wishes. Parvataneni firmly replied to Pakistan that you cannot accept UN reports when you like them and reject them when you don’t.
He made it clear that India fully supports UNAMA’s efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan. Parvataneni said that India supports the UN Secretary-General’s call to respect international law, especially international humanitarian law, and ensure the protection of civilians. He explained that India supports UNAMA’s demand for a full investigation into these attacks, ensuring accountability, and ensuring that such incidents do not recur. He said that such heinous acts of violence are unacceptable. (Maxim News)
