Hyderabad, Nov. 4: BRS general secretary T Jeevan Reddy accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of delaying Medigadda barrage repairs by focusing on the Tummidi Hatti project.
He alleged that the government was using the Tummidi Hatti discussions to divert public attention and avoid taking action on Medigadda repairs and Kannepalli pump operations.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, Jeevan Reddy questioned why Revanth Reddy waited three months for an appointment with the Maharashtra Chief Minister. He also questioned holding discussions without a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Jeevan Reddy Demands Immediate Godavari Water Measures
Jeevan Reddy said the government had failed to take even temporary steps to lift Godavari water at the Kannepalli pump house. He claimed that around 20,000 cusecs of water was currently flowing nearby.

He said the government could build a temporary cofferdam and lift at least one TMCft of water. He added that the facility could potentially lift up to 150 TMCft without affecting permanent repairs to Medigadda barrage.
The BRS leader maintained that the Annaram and Sundilla barrages remained safe. He said both were on the Godavari River, while Medigadda was on the Pranahita River.
He also questioned the government’s decision to ignore the Central Water and Power Research Station report.
Furthermore, Jeevan Reddy criticised the government over its alleged lack of preparation for El Niño and drought relief. He sought clarity on Yasangi crop planning, Rythu Bharosa and assistance for agricultural labourers.
He also demanded ₹12,000 assistance for job card holders under the proposed Indira Gandhi Athmeeya Bharosa scheme.
On Tummidi Hatti, Jeevan Reddy urged the government to begin work at the 152 metre level and reach an agreement later. He cited Karnataka’s approach to the Almatti project.
He contrasted the previous BRS government’s completion of the Kaleshwaram project in three years with the current government’s failure to repair two Medigadda pillars.
