Hyderabad, June 12: Heavy rain and adverse weather conditions in Hyderabad on Friday forced the diversion of a flight carrying Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy from Delhi to Bengaluru.
The Chief Minister had boarded an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Hyderabad at around 6.30 pm.
Hyderabad Rains Disrupt Flight Operations
According to reports, unfavourable weather conditions around Hyderabad Airport in Shamshabad prevented safe landing operations.
Air Traffic Control diverted the flight to Bengaluru after assessing that conditions were not suitable for arrival in Hyderabad.
The flight later landed safely at Bengaluru Airport.
Meanwhile, several parts of Hyderabad received light to heavy rainfall on Friday evening. Areas affected included Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, Miyapur, Chandanagar, Serilingampally, Chintal, Balanagar, Lakdikapul, Punjagutta, Basheerbagh, Koti, Abids and Nampally.
Rainwater accumulation on roads disrupted normal traffic movement and caused delays for commuters returning home from work.
Authorities are expected to continue monitoring weather conditions and traffic movement across the city.
