Hyderabad, June 13: Telangana Rakshana Sena Chief and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Saturday demanded the death penalty for the accused in the alleged sexual assault attempt on a 12 year old girl in Khammam. She also urged the Telangana government to provide long term support to the victim and her family while ensuring speedy justice in the case.
Kavitha visited NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad, where the minor girl is undergoing treatment after sustaining severe injuries in the incident. She interacted with doctors and reviewed the victim’s health condition and the treatment being provided. Later, she met the victim’s parents, consoled them and assured them of support during the difficult period.
Kavitha Seeks Speedy Justice and Government Support
Addressing the media after the visit, Kavitha described the incident as one of the most inhuman crimes against a child. She demanded that the accused be awarded the harshest possible punishment and called on the government to appoint experienced lawyers to ensure a swift trial.
She said delays in delivering punishment weaken deterrence and reduce fear among offenders. Therefore, she urged authorities to ensure that the case is pursued vigorously and reaches its conclusion without unnecessary delays.
Kavitha alleged that influential persons were attempting to pressure the victim’s family to withdraw the case. She termed such actions unacceptable and urged the government to ensure that there is no political interference in the investigation or trial process. She said justice should be delivered solely on the basis of facts and law.
Expressing concern over the victim’s future, Kavitha said the 12 year old girl suffered severe injuries after allegedly being thrown from a building following the assault attempt. She stated that doctors fear the child may face permanent mobility challenges, leaving her dependent on lifelong care.

The BRS leader said the victim’s mother is demanding capital punishment for the accused. She added that the family is struggling emotionally and financially as both parents work as daily wage labourers and have limited resources to provide long term medical care and rehabilitation.
Kavitha appealed to the state government to stand firmly with the family. She sought the allotment of a house for the victim’s family and requested a monthly pension of Rs 50,000 to help meet medical and living expenses. She urged the government to consider the request from a humanitarian perspective.
The former MP also expressed concern over crimes against women and children in Telangana. Referring to recent incidents, she claimed that several cases involving minors are being reported regularly and called for stronger preventive measures.
She urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, to immediately review the law and order situation relating to women and child safety. She called for enhanced monitoring, stricter enforcement and stronger protection mechanisms to prevent such incidents.
Kavitha said the Khammam case should serve as a wake up call for authorities. She stressed that ensuring justice for the victim and strengthening safeguards for women and children must remain a top priority for the government.
