Osman Sagar And Himayat Sagar Receive Inflows, Alert For Downstream Areas

Hyderabad, June 14: Floodwater inflows have started entering Hyderabad’s twin reservoirs, Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, following rainfall in upstream catchment areas. Authorities have issued an alert to departments and residents in downstream regions to remain prepared.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said technical teams are continuously monitoring inflows and reservoir storage levels. Officials are reviewing conditions at regular intervals and are ready to take necessary action if required.

HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy directed departments including GHMC, Revenue, Police and HYDRAA to remain on alert and maintain coordination.

Officials said any decision regarding opening reservoir gates, regulating storage levels or releasing water will be communicated through official channels and media updates.

Residents living in downstream areas have been advised to follow official advisories and take precautionary measures if conditions change.

As of 6 am on June 14, reservoir levels were:

Osman Sagar
FTL: 1790.00 feet (3.518 TMC)
Present Level: 1784.30 feet (2.493 TMC)

Himayat Sagar
FTL: 1763.50 feet (2.521 TMC)
Present Level: 1760.60 feet (2.110 TMC)

Officials reported combined inflows of around 800 cusecs into the reservoirs.
