Hyderabad: Telangana Police have solved the sensational Nalgonda family murder case within three days, arresting four accused, including a relative of the victims, for allegedly killing four members of a family over a financial dispute and robbing cash and gold ornaments.
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Sharat Chandra Pawar said the prime accused, Syed Aslam, allegedly conspired with his wife Tabassum, friend Sohail and jeweller Hemanth Kumar to execute the murders. Investigators used CCTV footage, technical evidence and scientific methods to crack the case.
The bodies of Mohammed Sultan, 45, his wife Haseena, 38, son Muzammil, 20, and daughter Apsara, 14, were found in a decomposed state at their residence in Telangana Colony on June 22. Police said the murders were committed on June 20.
Financial dispute led to quadruple murder, say police
According to the investigation, Haseena had lent Rs 1 lakh to her niece Tabassum and her husband Aslam about a year ago. When Aslam recently sought another loan of Rs 1 lakh, Haseena refused and instead demanded repayment of the earlier loan.
Police said Aslam and Tabassum allegedly developed a grudge against the family and planned the murders. Investigators further revealed that Aslam allegedly watched YouTube videos to plan the crime.
Police said Aslam waited outside the victims’ house in the early hours of June 20 and attacked Haseena when she stepped outside. Hearing her cries, Sultan and Muzammil rushed out, but Aslam allegedly stabbed both of them to death.
Police said the accused then entered the house and allegedly killed 14 year old Apsara, who was hiding under a bed. After committing the murders, the accused allegedly looted cash and gold ornaments before fleeing.
The crime came to light after neighbours noticed a foul smell from the house and alerted the police. Although the deaths were initially suspected to be a case of suicide, the post mortem examination confirmed that all four victims had been murdered.
Following extensive questioning of relatives and analysis of CCTV footage and technical evidence, police arrested Aslam, Tabassum, Sohail and Hemanth Kumar.
Police seized a Mahindra Marazzo car, Rs 30.04 lakh in cash, five tolas of melted gold, the knife allegedly used in the murders, three mobile phones, blood stained clothes, and land and bank documents from the accused.
All four accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
