Srinagar: The annual Amarnath Yatra will begin on July 3, with authorities and local stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir stepping up preparations for the pilgrimage.
Ahead of the yatra, Kashmiri Muslim leaders and civil society representatives expressed support and assured cooperation for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Local Leaders Extend Support for Amarnath Yatra
A meeting was held in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor and Amarnath Shrine Board Chairman Manoj Sinha to review arrangements and discuss support measures.
During the meeting, participating leaders assured assistance to pilgrims and expressed readiness to support the successful conduct of the yatra.
Manoj Sinha appreciated the support extended by local communities and said the pilgrimage reflects a long standing spiritual tradition.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring that every pilgrim receives respect, safety and assistance throughout the journey.
Hotel owners also announced a 30 percent reduction in accommodation charges for Amarnath pilgrims staying at their properties.
Authorities said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the pilgrimage. Around 670 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed along with police and army personnel.
The Amarnath Yatra will conclude on August 28.
