Hyderabad, July 2: The Telangana government has issued a notification to declare 280.09 acres in Mankhal village of Shamshabad division, Rangareddy district, as the Sardarnagar Proposed Reserve Forest, marking a major step towards protecting government forest land.
The notification covers Survey Nos. 103 to 120 and initiates the statutory process for constituting the land as a Reserve Forest under the relevant provisions of the forest law.
Reserve Forest Proposal Revived After 25 Years
The land was originally assigned to the Social Forestry Department by the then Rangareddy District Collector in 1977 for plantation and forestry activities.
Following the merger of the Social Forestry and Territorial Wings, officials proposed declaring the area as a Reserve Forest. However, the proposal remained pending for nearly 25 years due to administrative delays and prolonged litigation.
To revive the long-pending proposal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) C. Suvarna directed the Forest Department to process the case on priority.
The department subsequently carried out a fresh Differential GPS (DGPS) survey, prepared updated maps, verified historical land records, and completed a comprehensive review of the proposal.
Officials also obtained the required clearances from the Revenue, Law and Forest Departments before the government issued G.O. Ms. No. 21 on Wednesday.
The issuance of the Section 4 notification begins the legal process for declaring the area as a Reserve Forest. Until the final notification under Section 15 is issued, the notified land will receive statutory protection against encroachments and unauthorized activities.
Forest officials said the move will help conserve ecologically important government land and ensure its protection for future generations.
